Isn't it shallow if someone loves themselves just because they think they're beautiful? What happened to not judging a book by its cover? :O

*sigh* Not jsut because but because they finaly realize that they are beautiful inside and out and that you need to love yourself before anyone can truly love you or you can love someone else...if that makes any sense lol

you think too much :P

Lol. I was joking, but you raise an interesting thought: can we love ourselves? I mean, love is selflessness, or putting another before yourself. How can you love yourself then? You can't put yourself before yourself. Even look at God, the epitome of Love. He's a multiplicity of persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He's always in a state of love, for all eternity, because he's always expressing that love to another person: Father to Son, Son to Spirit, etc. Him being a Trinity is a fundamental necessity to Him being identified as love, and the only reason why He can independently express love. People, however, are one person, without a multiplicity (at least usually, but the exceptions are a touchy and grey area). Therefore, being without an inherent multiplicity of persons, we must depend on others in order to love. We need at least one other person in order to say we are truly loving. I think this is further supported by the fact that the Bible says to love God and your neighbour, but says not to love yourself. God is love, so why would we be told not to love ourself? Wouldn't that prevent us from fully experiencing God if he is love? Clearly, the writers didn't feel it hurt our experience of God. It is implied then, that the "love of self" is not the same as loving others. Instead it's not really love at all. We may call it love, but it's not. Furthermore, the prohibition of self-love suggests that it hurts our experience of God/Love.

Conclusion: you can certain "love" yourself, but that'll only diminish your ability to really love, which can only exist between at least two people.

This post...wasn't joking. :)

Yes, of course! I'm a sinner, and so are you. I don't know if I should want to accept that though. Seems like something in need of fixing...:P

This post...was both joking and serious. ;)
